“Narrative change” is the strategic effort to shift dominant cultural stories, mental models, and frames that shape public understanding, beliefs, and behaviors—in our case, with the goal of advancing health equity and justice. Unlike short-term messaging or communications campaigns, narrative change is a long-term process that transforms how society interprets issues, often by amplifying underrepresented voices and challenging harmful norms.
Join the BLIS Collective as they provide a 75-min “home tour” of the Health Equity Narrative House, a tool to help unite our narrative change efforts around a shared vision of a future where our health and wellbeing is not a luxury or a privilege, but a right guaranteed for our families and communities.
The BLIS Collective is a solidarity and action hub that has been braiding narratives and growing movements, such as Reparations and LAND BACK, to win policy and shift culture. Walking you through each “room,” the BLIS Collective will highlight the dynamic utility of the Narrative House, including for framing, storytelling, content creation, media-making, organizing, advocacy, training, writing, research design, event curation, and grantmaking to catalyze the mindset shifts and action needed for a more healthy, just, and equitable society.
The Health Equity Narrative House is designed to be a flexible and evolving tool for organizers and movement builders, researchers and narrative practitioners, artists and culture makers, funders and intermediaries, alike, that will remain evergreen as the years progress.
It is an invitation to us all to see our issues and movements as an integral part of a greater health equity movement. |
